Weddings and Banns

‘ Marriage is a way of life made holy by God,

and blessed by the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ

with those celebrating a wedding at Cana in Galilee.’

The Marriage Service

Congratulations! If you would like to get married in one of our beautiful churches we will do all we can to ensure your wedding day is both happy and memorable. You’re welcome to marry in church whatever your beliefs, whether or not you are christened and whether or not you regularly go to church.

The law allows you to get married in church if one or both of you live in the parish, or have been habitual worshippers at the church for at least six months, or have a strong link with the parish through family or work. You can check that you are in our parish by using this link www.achurchnearyou.com.

For such a special day, we offer a special place. There are some great things about marrying in church that you might like to know. All you need to help you plan a personal, meaningful, spiritual and beautiful church wedding can be found the Church of England weddings web site: www.yourchurchwedding.org.
